In the USA, the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008 (GINA) and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) are federal regulations that safe-guard genetic results and prevent discrimination using genetic information for health insurance and employment status.

The healthcare system is fragmented, and consolidated medical data can be difficult to access.  Cancer Guardian’s Medical Records Platform provides members with a secure, HIPAA compliant cloud-based solution for consolidating, storing and transmitting their medical information.  It allows you to organize, view and share medical records, notes and images in an easy and manageable format.  A cancer diagnosis is NOT required in order to use this service.

Participating in a clinical trial may help you access to a new treatment that is not otherwise available, which might be safer or work more effectively than current treatment options.  You may get more attention from your cancer care team and more careful monitoring of your condition and the possible side effects of treatment if you take part.  Additionally, some study sponsors may pay for part or all of your medical care during the study.

Cancer Guardian, however, leverages a proprietary platform that tracks up-to-the-minute cancer therapy studies.  Following diagnosis, your dedicated Cancer Care Specialist will work with you to collect the necessary information (ie., medical data, cancer type, DNA testing results) to assemble a Clinical Trial Report which lists active clinical studies that best fit your specific situation.  After reviewing the options with your CSS, they will help you to enroll in the selected trial so that treatment may begin as soon as possible.
